The
Annual Conference, held each summer, is an important element for all members and
for the development of Lexlink. It usually takes place over three/four days hosted
by a Member Firm in their jurisdiction. In
2010 the Conference was held in Oslo, hosted by our Chairman, Nils Pettersen-Hagh,
in the prestigious Hotel Bristol, situated in the heart of the city. An Annual
General Meeting takes place, where the Executive presents a report on the previous
year's activities and this is usually followed by a talk on a subject of general
interest. This year Nils gave us a most interesting account of how Norway is developing
and Professor Rainer Schackmar from our Academic Board gave an illuminating lecture
on the increasingly relevant subject of Mediation. Judge Ellen M Martens, Vice
President of Oslo City Court, on her birthday, kindly attended and gave a fascinating
insight into the Norwegian Judicial system. In addition
to the business meeting, a central part of the Annual Conference is the opportunity
this provides for the delegates to spend time together, while sightseeing and
dining with each other, thereby enhancing their knowledge of each other's practices
and expertise to the advantage of their clients when they require an introduction
to capable and reliable legal services in other jurisdictions. |
